Chapter 14. Digital Signatures

The digital signature is becoming the standard for signing important electronic documents and in many environments carries the authority of a handwritten signature. Acrobat offers users the ability to create a digital signature, which is a piece of encrypted data stored in a PDF. It gives you a visual indication that a PDF has been signed. A digital signature can be one of three things: a handwritten name, a logo (or symbol graphic), or text. Not only can you create a digital signature and sign PDF documents digitally, but you can also verify that signature's authenticity.
