Chapter 7. Adding Comments > Using Text Edits

Using Text Edits

Text comments provide another method of adding and editing text in a document. More immediately visible than notes, text comments display the text directly in the document. These are the text editing options:

  • Indicate Text Edits selects the text to which you want to apply an edit. Drag the cursor across the text you want to select.

  • Replace Selected Text will automatically cross out the selected text, insert a caret, and open a box for inserting text (Figure 7.22).

Figure 7.22. Replace the selected text by adding new text in the box.

  • Highlight Selected Text essentially does the same as the Highlighter tool: Once you select the text and choose Highlight Selected Text, the text will be highlighted.

  • Add Note to Selected Text automatically highlights the text and opens a Comment on Text box (Figure 7.23).

Figure 7.23. Add a note to the selected text.

  • Insert Text at Cursor inserts a caret at the selected point for you to insert text. The text will be inserted in a note box.

  • Underline Selected Text does the same as the Underline Text tool.

  • Cross Out Text for Deletion does the same as the Cross-Out Text tool. It will cross out the selected text indicating the deletion.
