Acrobat 7.0 Professional: Comparing two Adobe PDF documents

In Acrobat 7.0 Professional, you can compare two documents. You can compare an entire page or just the text on a page, including a font analysis. In this section of the lesson, you'll simply compare the Poster.pdf document with the Poster1.pdf document. You could, however, compare a PDF version of the revised poster with a PDF of the original poster to verify that all requested changes have been made.

Choose Document > Compare Documents.

In the Compare (Older Document) section of the Compare Documents dialog box, click Choose to locate the file Poster.pdf in the Lesson10 folder. Then click Open.

Verify that Poster1.pdf is listed in the To (Newer Document) text box, and verify that Page by Page Visual Difference is selected.

From the drop down menu, select the type of comparison to be made. We chose Normal Analysis. (Since we haven't corrected any text at this point, a Textual Differences comparison would be meaningless.)

Choose whether to see a side-by-side comparison or a consolidated report. We chose Side by Side Report. Then click OK.

The two documents are displayed side-by-side with differences between the two highlighted.

When you are finished reviewing the differences, click the Close button or choose File > Close. You do not need to save this comparison.
