Adding a drop-down list

Create a drop-down list to provide multiple choices for users in which multiple options are displayed at the same time. Drop-down lists can also allow for multiple selections from a list of choices.

1.
From the Standard tab of the Library palette, click and drag a drop-down List onto the green box in the bottom-left corner of the form.

2.
In the Layout palette, enter the following values to adjust the size and position of the drop-down list: X: 0.5, Y: 7, Width: 2.75, Height: 0.354.

3.
Double-click the drop-down List text on the form so it becomes selected. Use the toolbars to change the Font to Myriad Pro Black, and the size to 11 pt. Keep the text selected.

4.
Change the drop-down list text to read Model.

5.
In the Field tab of the Object palette, click the green plus sign (+) in the List Items section. This allows you to add an entry to the available choices of the drop-down list. Type Please Choose One and press the Enter or Return key on your keyboard. The next line of the List Items section becomes active.

6.
Add the following three entries, pressing the Enter or Return key after each entry: Model 123, Model 456, Model 789.

Note

You can change the order of items in the list by selecting an item and then clicking the up or down arrows. You also have an option to allow the user to add a custom entry if they can't find an option in the list you provide.

7.
In the Value tab of the Object palette, click the Type drop-down and choose User Entered – Required.
