Chapter 3. Address Book > Electronic Business Cards (vCards)

Electronic Business Cards (vCards)

You're probably very tired of typing your contact information into outgoing messages and using copy-and-paste to transfer received address data to your Address Book. Entourage supports the vCard (Virtual Business Card) standard for exchanging address data. If you and the other person both have vCard-capable email programs (such as Entourage, Microsoft Outlook, or Outlook Express), you can send each other your personal vCards.

To add a received vCard to the Address Book

1.
Select the message header in the message list. If necessary, click the Attachments triangle to open the Attachments pane and display the vCard attachment (Figure 3.26).

Figure 3.26. A vCard (.vcf) attachment in an incoming message will be listed in the Attachments pane just like any other attachment.

2.
Double-click the vCard attachment. A new contact record containing the vCard information opens.

3.
Make any necessary changes to the contact data and click the Save toolbar icon. The vCard is added to your Address Book as a new contact record.
