Entourage Linking

In Entourage, you can link files, calendar events, or notes to any other Entourage item. Links in Entourage are especially useful when planning meetings, for example. You can link a document pertaining to the meeting to a contact record in your Address Book. This enables you to open the document directly from the Address Book, as shown in the following example.

To link an Entourage contact to an Office document

1.
In Entourage, switch to the Address Book by clicking its icon in the upper-left corner of the window, choosing View > Go To > Address Book, or pressing .

2.
Select the record in the contact list.

3.
Do one of the following:

  • Choose Tools > Link to Existing > File.

  • Click in the Links column for the contact record and choose Link to Existing > File from the pop-up menu.

The Link to file dialog box appears (Figure 26.26).

4.
Select the file to which you want to link the contact information and click Link.

A link indicator appears beside the contact name in the Address Book, showing that the contact is linked to a file or an Entourage item. To later view the linked file, click the link indicator in the person's record and choose the linked file from the pop-up menu that appears (Figure 26.27).
