Chapter 26. Using Programs Together > Copying, Linking, and Embedding

Copying, Linking, and Embedding

Office lets you easily share information among its applications. The three main methods are to copy, embed, or link information from one application to another.

The simplest method is to copy and paste or drag and drop information from one program to another. For example, you can copy Excel data and paste it into a Word document. The data becomes part of the Word document as an editable table. Similarly, after switching to Slide Sorter View in PowerPoint, you can drag a copy of a slide into a Word document. Data added via the copy-and-paste or drag-and-drop method becomes a part of—and is saved with—the destination document.
