Chapter 5. Text Formatting > Character Formatting

Character Formatting

You can change the look of selected text by applying different font, size, style, and color formatting. You can format text in several ways, as described below. Use any method that's convenient for you.

To apply character formatting

1.
Select the text that you want to format.

Using normal selection techniques, you can select individual characters, words, paragraphs, or the entire document.

Do any of the following:

  • In the Font section of the Formatting Palette (Figure 5.1), select any combination of font, size, color, highlighting, and style effects.

  • Select font, size, color, highlighting, and style options from the icons and drop-down menus on the Formatting toolbar (Figure 5.2).

  • Choose Format > Font or press . On the Font tab of the Font dialog box (Figure 5.3), select font, size, color, and effects, and then click OK.
