Recurring Tasks

You can set a task to recur at any regular interval, repeating as many times as you like. You can also change a normal task to a recurring one or vice versa, as well as alter the recurrence pattern for any task.

To set a task as recurring

1.
Create a new task (as described previously), or edit an existing task by double-clicking it in the Tasks list.

2.
To accept one of the preset schedules, choose one from the Occurs drop-down menu (Figure 23.19). Go to Step 7.

3.
To specify a different schedule, do one of the following:

  • If this is a new task or an existing nonrecurring task, choose Custom from the Occurs drop-down menu.

  • If this is an existing recurring task, click the Edit button (Figure 23.20).

The Recurring Task dialog box opens (Figure 23.21).

4.
At the top of the dialog box, specify the recurrence pattern. The options presented depend on whether you select Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly.

5.
In the Start and End pane, specify whether the task will recur indefinitely, end after a certain number of occurrences, or end by a specific date.

6.
Click OK to close the Recurring Task dialog box.

The task window reappears.

7.
Save the task and close its window.
