Part: III Microsoft Excel > Data Analysis

Chapter 15. Data Analysis

Excel provides several excellent tools to help you analyze worksheet data. In this chapter, you'll be introduced to the following data analysis tools:

  • PivotTables. An interactive table that you can use to view the relationships between variables.

  • Goal seeking. Solve for a specific result in a calculation by determining how one of its components must change.

  • What-if analysis. Data tables are used to calculate an equation with one or two unknown variables by substituting user-provided test values. Scenarios are named, saved sets of input test values for a data table.

  • Solver. For a given formula cell, maximize, minimize, or set it to a specific value by varying the values of other cells.
