Chapter 1. Essential Office Techniques > Launching Office Applications

Launching Office Applications

You can launch Office applications in the same manner as other OS X applications—plus some Office-specific ways.

To launch an Office application

  • Do one of the following:

    • Click the program icon in the Dock (Figure 1.1).

Figure 1.1. If the Office programs are in the Dock, click the appropriate icon to launch the program.

    • Open the Microsoft Office 2004 folder (Figure 1.2) and double-click the program icon.

Figure 1.2. You can also launch an Office application by double-clicking its file icon.

    • Double-click an alias for the program.

    • If the program has been saved as a favorite, choose its name from the Finder's Go > Favorites submenu.

    • From the New tab of the Project Gallery in any open Office application, create a new document in another Office application.

The application launches. If it hasn't been disabled, the Project Gallery appears (see the next section).
