Chapter 20. Email > Email Security

Email Security

Entourage 2004 provides two types of security for your messages. First, you can digitally sign messages, assuring recipients that they actually came from you. Second, messages can be encrypted, allowing only recipients with the proper software key to decode and read them. While most users won't bother with either of these features, corporate and government employees are likely to find them very attractive.

Before you can employ either feature, you must obtain a digital ID from an authorized issuer, such as VeriSign (www.verisign.com). The digital ID can be used for both encryption and digital signing.
