Chapter 20. Email > Setting Up an Account

Setting Up an Account

In order to use email, you need an account with an Internet service provider (ISP). If your account is with America Online (or a similar proprietary service), you won't be able to use Entourage for email. The literature you received with your ISP account or the ISP's tech support staff can tell you whether the service uses Post Office Protocol (POP) or Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) for email. There are also two other types of accounts that Entourage 2004 supports: Hotmail (Web-based email from Microsoft) and Exchange server (an email server used by many corporations).

Your first step in setting up Entourage as an email client is to import information from your current email accounts or to create a new Entourage account for each one. If your old accounts weren't imported when you first ran Entourage or you've just opened a new ISP, corporate, or Hotmail account, follow the steps below to register the account.
