Building a Table from Scratch

If you have a complex table in mind, you can use Word's tools to draw your own.

To build a table from scratch

1.
Choose Table > Draw Table.

The Tables and Borders toolbar appears (Figure 7.7).

Click the Draw Table icon on the toolbar, and then drag the table's outline in the document.

Click where you want one corner, drag diagonally to the opposite corner, and then release the mouse button.

Use the Draw Table tool to draw the interior cell boundaries (Figure 7.8).

4.
When you're done working on the table and ready to begin entering text, click the Draw Table tool icon again.
