Converting Text to a Table

You can convert existing text in a Word document into a table.

To convert text to a table

1.
Select the lines of existing text you want to convert into a table (Figure 7.30).

2.
Choose Table > Convert > Convert Text to Table.

The Convert Text to Table dialog box appears (Figure 7.31).

Specify the number of columns and rows that the resulting table will contain.

Optional: Click AutoFormat to select a format for the table.

5.
Click OK to generate the table.

The selected text is converted into a table (Figure 7.32). To adjust the formatting and style, see “Editing the Table Structure” and “Borders and Cell Shading,” earlier in this chapter.
