Modifying Charts

While a newly created chart may be perfect for your needs, you can also modify or embellish it as desired. Using a variety of techniques, you can change virtually any chart element, the data series, or even the chart type/style.

To modify a chart element

1.
To open a formatting dialog box for a given chart object, do any of the following:

  • Double-click the chart object.

  • Select the chart object and click the Chart toolbar's Format selected object icon (Figure 13.7).

    To display the Chart toolbar, choose View > Toolbars > Chart.

  • Open the Chart Objects menu on the Chart toolbar and choose the object that you want to modify. Click the Format selected object toolbar icon (see Figure 13.7).

  • Select a chart object and choose the first command from the Format menu (Figure 13.8).

In the dialog box that appears (Figure 13.9), make the necessary changes and click OK.
