Chapter 5. Working with Graphics > Placing Text Within Shapes

Placing Text Within Shapes

Another of the many new features in Keynote 2 is the ability to place text directly within shapes you've created in Keynote. Shapes can have any kind of color, gradient, or image fill, and the text that you add will be overlaid on the fill. Text inside the shape rewraps as you resize the shape.

To add text to a shape

1.
Using the Shapes menu on the toolbar, place a shape on the slide you'reworking with.

2.
Resize the shape to your liking, and add a color, gradient, or image fill as needed.

3.
Double-click in the middle of the shape. An insertion point will appear, centered in the shape.

4.
Type the text you want in the shape (Figure 5.36).

Figure 5.36. This text is embedded in the shape, moves with the shape, and rewraps as the shape is resized.
