Chapter 4. Getting the Type Right > Checking Your Spelling

Checking Your Spelling

Keynote allows you check your spelling in two ways. You can have the program check spelling as you type, in which case misspellings will show up on your slides with red dotted underlines (Figure 4.42). Or you can check spelling manually.

Figure 4.42. When dynamic spellchecking is turned on, Keynote flags suspect text with a dotted red underline.

To use dynamic spellchecking

1.
Choose Edit > Spelling > Check Spelling As You Type.

2.
When Keynote flags a misspelling, Control-click (or right-click if you have a mouse with multiple buttons) the underlined word to bring up a contextual menu with suggestions.

3.
If one of the suggestions is the correct word, choose it from the contextual menu.

In the contextual menu, you can also choose Ignore Spelling (if the spelling is correct and you just want Keynote to ignore it), or Learn Spelling to add the word to the spellchecker's dictionary.

To check spelling manually

1.
Choose Edit > Spelling > Spelling, or press (colon).

The Spelling window appears (Figure 4.43).
