Starting Keynote

Starting Keynote for the first time will require a brief registration process—then you can jump right into creating presentations.

To start Keynote

1.
Open your Applications folder, then open the iWork folder.

Double-click the Keynote application icon (Figure 1.4).

The program launches.

3.
The first time you use either of the iWork programs, you'll be asked to fill out a short registration form.

Fill out the form, then click Register Now.

Keynote connects to the Internet and sends your registration information to Apple.

5.
An untitled document appears, and the Theme Chooser asks you to select a theme for your presentation (Figure 1.5).

6.
Select a theme from the theme thumbnails, make a choice from the Slide Size pop-up menu, and click Choose.

Keynote builds the theme and prepares the first slide for editing. You'll find more information about selecting themes and creating presentations in Chapter 2.
