FreeHand 10

Print

Printing a PDF file from FreeHand for Macintosh to Distiller is exactly the same as doing so in Illustrator and Photoshop. After your printer driver is set to Create Adobe PDF and your PostScript options are configured, open your illustration in FreeHand and press Command-P.

In the dialog box that appears (Figure 2-4), Create Adobe PDF should be your printer. Select or change your job and launch options if desired or required, and then click and hold the PDF Settings menu to access FreeHand's print options (Figure 2-41). Check the Use PPD box and click on the ellipsis button to choose Distiller if the wrong PPD is selected. Check the Composite radio button and make other choices as desired, such as scaling and tiling, and then click the Setup button to check your print setup. In the Separations tab of the Print Setup dialog box (Figure 2-42), the Composite radio button should be checked; check “Print spot colors as process” if you want any spot colors in the file to be printed with process inks. In the Imaging tab (Figure 2-43), indicate what labels and marks you want on the page; set Images to Binary; and make sure “Convert RGB to process” is checked. Finally, in the Paper Setup tab (Figure 2-44), change the paper size and orientation if desired. Click OK when you're done and then click Save to distill the file, naming it when prompted.
