Working with Thumbnails

Thumbnails provide a quick visual method of going to another page. If you are on page 1 and want to get to page 12 quickly, you can just click the thumbnail for page 12 to get there. Each thumbnail is a tiny representation of each page. Clicking a thumbnail instantly takes you to that page at the current magnification level.

Thumbnails are not stored in a PDF by default, because they add to the document's file size, but they are generated on the fly when you open the thumbnails palette. These thumbnails will not be saved when the document is closed, however. If you want to make sure that thumbnails are always present in the document, you can embed them.
