Chapter 12. Paper and Web Capture > Working with Suspects

Working with Suspects

Occasionally, Acrobat's Capture plug-in has trouble interpreting a word or character. In such cases, Acrobat substitutes what it thinks is correct and marks the word or character as suspect. This section shows you how to review the suspects within a captured PDF.

To find and review suspects:

1.
Choose Tools > TouchUp Text > Show Capture Suspects (Figure 12.10).

Figure 12.10. To look at suspects, choose Tools > TouchUp Text > Show Capture Suspects.

The suspect words appear in the Acrobat window, outlined with red rectangles (Figure 12.11).

2.
Choose Tools > TouchUp Text > Find First Suspect (Ctrl+H/Command-H).

The Capture Suspect dialog box opens (Figure 12.12).

3.
To accept Acrobat's interpretation, click the Accept button or press Tab.

Pressing the Tab key not only accepts the interpretation, but also moves to the next suspect automatically. If you don't accept the suspect, you can leave the bitmapped image in place.

4.
To find the next suspect, click Next (Ctrl+H/Command-H).

5.
Repeat step 3 until you've reviewed all the suspect words.
