Setting Advanced Form Options

When you have the basic form elements in place, you can assign to them any number of actions and tasks. You can ask your forms not only to collect information, but also to perform some analysis on that information and send it wherever it's needed.

To create a Submit Form button:

1.
Select the Form tool.

2.
Drag to create a field for the Submit button.

In the Field Properties dialog box, choose Button from the Type pop-up menu.

Enter a name and a short description.

5.
Click the Actions tab.

6.
Select a mouse behavior in the When This Happens list, and click the Add button (Figure 8.40).

The Add an Action dialog box appears.

Choose Submit Form from the Type pop-up menu (Figure 8.41).

Click the Select URL button.

The Submit Form Selections dialog box appears (Figure 8.42).

Type a URL in the text box, choose an export format and the fields to be submitted, and click OK.

The Submit Form Selections dialog box closes, and you return to the Add an Action dialog box.

10.
Click Set Action.

The Add an Action dialog box closes, and you return to the Field Properties dialog box.

11.
Click OK to close the dialog box.
