Chapter 13. Digital Signatures

Chapter 13. Digital Signatures

The digital signature is becoming the standard for signing important electronic documents and perhaps soon will carry the authority of a handwritten signature. Acrobat 5.0 offers users the ability to create a digital signature, which can be one of three things: a hand written name, a logo or symbol graphic, or text. You can not only create a digital signature and sign PDF documents digitally, but also verify that signature's authenticity. Also, if you sign a PDF digitally, you can veto changes made in the document after you signed it. Acrobat Self-Sign Security is Acrobat's default signature handler, but you can choose to install a different program.
