Using Free Text Annotations

Free text annotations provide a method of adding straight text to a document without affecting the existing text. More immediately visible than notes, text annotations display the text directly in the document.

To create a free text annotation:

1.
Choose the Free Text tool from the Commenting toolbar (Figure 10.18) by clicking the arrow next to the Note tool and dragging down to the Free Text tool.

Press Shift-S.

2.
Place the text annotation by dragging in a document page.

The size of the rectangle created by that drag will be the size of the text window (Figure 10.19).

3.
Type the information that you want to appear in the text annotation.

4.
Press the Enter/Return key when you've finished typing (Figure 10.20).
