Chapter 9. XML and Office > XML and Access 2003

XML and Access 2003

Access programmatically supports three methods to address XML data. These are ImportXML, ExportXML, and TransformXML. There is no support for external schemas. When importing data, Access corrals the data to the standard data types it supports.

Importing XML

The ImportXML method is used to import XML data into an Access table. There are two parameters to the method: the path to the XML file and an indicator of how to use the incoming data. There are three options in this regard: import data and structure, import just structure, or append data. These are the same options available when importing text or importing from another Access table.
