Outlook serves as the e-mail/contact management/calendar utility in many businesses. Structurally, Outlook is organized as a collection of folders, which in turn store items. There are several types of folders: most store a certain default type of item, as well as being able to store other item types. The types of items are mail messages, appointments, contacts, meeting requests, journal entries, notes, and more. These are discussed further in the appropriate sections of this chapter.
