Summary

User forms are quite useful: they are fully capable of handling all that can be achieved with VBA. The Toolbox comes with the set of standard controls, and additional controls can be added and put to good use. There are several events to which procedures can be attached. As we have seen, user forms can even maintain a logical hierarchy, in that one form can call another.

Deciding if, when, and how to incorporate user forms into your custom applications depends on the particular requirements. User forms provide additional methods of user interaction, some of which the host application may not be able to match. User forms have the additional benefit of being application independent. Forms can be hosted in most Office applications with little modification. In Chapter 12, a case study demonstrates a sophisticated user form.
