Inserting Content from Another Document

This solution was developed to automate the creation of letters. This is one of a handful of uses for mail merges. Another common one is creating labels. However, whereas labels often use just the data coming from the source records, letter merges typically mix the source data with boilerplate text.

So functionality was built into this solution to help insert text from other Word documents. On the Main form is a button labeled “Import Word File”. Clicking this button calls up the File dialog shown in Figure 12.7.
