Summary

This case study exemplifies bridging the gap between user needs and technical prowess for getting the job done. Conceptually, users are creating SQL statements with this solution, but in a way that is familiar to them. By interacting with a familiar paradigm (a form), users unknowingly build sophisticated queries from straightforward ideas.

This study also brings to light the issue of user interaction with a database such as Access. One of the requirements for this project was to provide functionality such that users would not have to open the database and use the Query Grid. By providing the methods to avoid direct database manipulation, this solution allows users to stay on the business side of things.
