Chapter 11. Introduction to InfoPath > Programming InfoPath Forms

Programming InfoPath Forms

InfoPath supports programming in either JScript or VBScript. (VBA is not available in InfoPath.) The object model, properties, methods, and events stay the same regardless of which of the two scripting languages is selected. Portions of programmable code are autogenerated by InfoPath. Additional coding can be done manually.

The code is stored in a separate file, which is one of the components of the overall form file. (See Table 11.1.) The two scripting languages cannot be mixed together. The desired scripting language should be selected early in the design of a form. Once code is generated, the option to change language is not available. The scripting language is selected in the Form Options dialog (under the Tools menu), shown in Figure 11.46.
