The procedures illustrated in this case study automate some of the work analysts need to do when preparing final reports for management. The key part of this solution is the copying of data from Excel worksheets to the datasheets behind PowerPoint charts.

This case study only points out how to copy the data. There are further avenues of development that can be explored. For example, the chart types and formats could also be applied to the PowerPoint charts by first reading those properties from the Excel charts. In practice, this addition did not have much benefit. As long as a chart first received manual formatting, it made sense to just apply the formatting directly to the PowerPoint charts. Remember, the only real purpose of the Excel charts here is for quick feedback to the analysts in preparing the supporting information of the report.
