The Problem

Business activity is periodically presented to upper management as a PowerPoint presentation. Each slide of the presentation displays one or more charts, as well as any supporting text or other visual aids.

Analysts who prepare the presentation use an Excel workbook for summarizing the data. Excel is used because of the significant number-crunching, and stores of data are kept on a dedicated worksheet. When the preliminary work in Excel is finished, there is no easy way to bring the data into PowerPoint—that is, to specifically populate the datasheets of the charts on the PowerPoint slides.
