Sorting a List

You can also sort a list by the values in one or more columns. Excel gives you tools to make this easy. To sort the most common way, you rearrange the rows based on the contents of the cells in one of the columns, and you can choose to sort in either ascending or descending order.

To do a simple sort:

1.
Click any cell in the column you're going to use to sort the rows (Figure 10.26).

Click either the Sort Ascending or Sort Descending button in the toolbar (Figure 10.27).
