Chapter 13. Using Multiple Worksheets > Referring to Data from Other Sheets

Referring to Data from Other Sheets

While building a formula, you can include data from another sheet.

To refer to another sheet:

1.
Click the destination cell for the formula.

2.
Start the formula as usual by entering an equal sign in the cell (Figure 13.11).

Figure 13.11. Start the formula with an equal sign.

3.
Refer to cells on other sheets by switching to the sheets and then selecting the cell or cells (Figure 13.12). As you are building the formula, click a cell in another sheet; a reference to that cell will be added to the Edit Line in the sheet where you're building the formula. You may add an operator or function to the formula you're creating, then go to another sheet and click the next cell you need in the formula, and so on.

Figure 13.12. Switch to each sheet and select the cell(s) whose values you want to include in the formula.

4.
Press when you finish building the formula. You will be returned to the sheet where you built the formula (Figure 13.13).

Figure 13.13. returns you to the sheet where you built the formula.

The formula (Figure 13.14) refers to the other sheets by name.
