Chapter 17. Sharing Workbooks > Publishing Workbooks on the Web

Publishing Workbooks on the Web

Excel makes it easy to save workbooks or worksheets on the Web. One advantage of publishing this way is that people who need to see the contents don't need to have Excel installed in order to open the file; all they need is a Web browser. You can also preview what the file will look like when opened in a Web browser.

To preview the Web appearance:

1.
Start with a workbook open in Excel (Figure 17.1).

Figure 17.1. Create or open a workbook.

2.
Choose File > Web Page Preview (Figure 17.2).

Figure 17.2. Choose File > Web Page Preview.

If your Web browser isn't already open, Excel will launch it, and the active worksheet appears in your Web browser as it will appear on the Web (Figure 17.3).
