Publishing Your Show on the Web

A great way to share your presentation with a large audience is to publish it on the Web. PowerPoint allows you to save presentations in .htm format to be viewed on Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator 3.0 or later or Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 or later. All you have to do is save the presentation as a Web page and you're ready to go.

To create presentations for the Web:

1.
From the File menu, choose Save As Web Page.

The Save: Microsoft PowerPoint dialog box opens (Figure 22.37).

Select a folder in which to save the presentation as an .htm file (Figure 22.38). Click the Web Options button.

The Web Options dialog box opens. This is where you can make decisions about the look and usability of your presentation Web page. Under the General tab, type the name of your presentation (Figure 22.39).

To select browser compatibility, click the Files tab. Under Browser support, check the appropriate boxes (Figure 22.40).

To change the appearance of your Web presentation, click the Appearance tab and select settings from the pull-down menus (Figure 22.41).

Click OK when you are finished making modifications. The Save: Microsoft PowerPoint dialog box reappears.

Choose where you want to save your Web page.

The Web page is saved as an .htm file.

Navigate to the .htm file in the location where you saved it, and double-click it to view the presentation on the Web (Figure 22.42).

The presentation appears in your Web browser (Figure 22.43).
