Chapter 28. Internet Newsgroups

Internet newsgroups (sometimes called Usenet newsgroups) are similar to public bulletin boards. There are tens of thousands of newsgroups on the Net, each focused on a particular topic. Messages, resembling e-mail messages, are posted to newsgroups, and anyone with access to the newsgroup can read them. If you respond to a message you've read, your reply is posted along with it. Some newsgroups include binaries—files associated with messages, similar to e-mail attachments, that are available for downloading.
