Formatting Text

Excel offers a wide range of formatting selections for text. We'll get started with the dialog boxes and toolbar tools involved. Also, don't be shy about exploring the other tabs in the dialog boxes once you get the hang of the basics. If the Formatting toolbar isn't already visible, you can see it by choosing View > Toolbars > Formatting.

To format text:

1.
Select the cell or cells that contain the text to format (Figure 12.37).

Choose formatting options by clicking the appropriate text-formatting buttons on the Formatting toolbar (Figure 12.38).

1.
Select the cell or cells that contain the text to format (Figure 12.37).

2.
Choose Format > Cells, or the mouse button and choose Format Cells from the shortcut menu.

3.
In the Format Cells dialog box, change options under the Alignment and Font tabs (Figures 12.39, Figure 12.40).
