Chapter 28. Internet Newsgroups > Viewing Newsgroups

Viewing Newsgroups

Once you have one or more news server accounts set up, you can gather and maintain the list of newsgroups available on that server. You can also identify newsgroups that you'd like to read regularly.

To view the newsgroups on a server:

1.
Click the news server in the Folder List. If you've already collected from this server the names of the newsgroups it tracks, they appear in the pane on the right, and you're done.

2.
If this is the first time you're selecting a news server, Entourage will ask if you want to receive a list of newsgroups from the server. If you have the Assistant running, the Assistant will ask; if you don't have the Assistant running, a separate window appears (Figure 28.11).

3.
Connect to your ISP.

4.
Click OK to the query.

The list of available newsgroups will appear in Entourage's right-hand pane, but it may take awhile to get the entire list, depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the number of newsgroups your server supports (Figure 28.12).
