Chapter 28. Internet Newsgroups > Setting Up a News Server Account

Setting Up a News Server Account

In order to use Entourage to work with newsgroups, you need access to a newsgroup server that uses Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP). Your Internet service provider (ISP) is likely to have one you can use; check its user documentation or ask the tech support staff for the contact information you need. You can use a search engine to locate one of the many free public news servers (use a search engine, such as http://www.google.com, and search for "public news servers"). There are also Web-based news servers, such as http://www.dejanews.com, but you use a Web browser to get to those, not Entourage.

In order to set up a news server account in Entourage, you'll need at least the name or IP address of a news server to which you have access. You may also need a user name and password to access the news server. Once you have this information, you're ready to set up Entourage to be your news reader.
