Making Shapes

Even if you don't know how to draw, you can make interesting shapes with Word's AutoShapes.

  1. To draw a predefined shape, hold the AutoShapes button on the Drawing toolbar, pause on any of the items on the pop-up menu, and choose a shape in the pop-up palette that appears (Figure 6.11).

Figure 6.11. Click the AutoShapes button on the Drawing toolbar, and select a shape from the pop-up menu and palette.

  2. Draw the shape as if you're drawing an imaginary rectangle. Click one end of that imaginary rectangle, hold down the mouse button, and drag to the opposite corner of the rectangle. The shape appears (Figure 6.12).

Figure 6.12. Click and drag across an imaginary rectangle; the shape you selected appears.
