Chapter 3. Creating a Document > Finding and Replacing Text

Finding and Replacing Text

You can find text quickly rather than hunting and pecking for words and phrases. This feature is called Find and Replace. Let's say you change your mind about a particular word—you can replace every instance of that word with another word all at once. See Table 3.3 for special Find options.

Table 3.3. Special Find Options
Match caseFinds words that contain the same upper- and lowercase characters
Find whole words onlyFinds text when not part of a larger word (for example, finds "art" but not "artistic")
Use wildcardsAllows you to enter a code to specify a special character combination to find (for example, "?" will match any single character).
Sounds likeFinds text that sounds like the Find what text
Find all word formsFinds all variations of the chosen word (for example, "apple" and "apples," "sit" and "sat")
