Setting Tabs

Tabs can make life easier when you're formatting documents. First select the paragraph, and then set your tabs.

To set tabs:

1.
Click the tab alignment button in the ruler to select the type of tab you'd like to set.

The default tab is Left Tab (Figure 3.32). Table 3.4 shows the tab-alignment markers.

2.
Click the ruler to place the tab marker at the desired location (Figure 3.33).

You will see the tab marker—in our example, the Left Tab marker—in the ruler.

3.
Click again at a different spot in the ruler to set another tab.

You can either set the same kind of tab or click the tab alignment button again to pick a different kind of tab.

4.
Press to move your text into its new position.
