Chapter 29. Copying and Linking > Embedding an Object

Embedding an Object

An embedded object is one that is moved from its source application (the original application in which it was created) to a target application (the document you're going to add it to). All the data for the object is copied to the target application. As a result, you can move the target file to another computer, and the object is moved, too. Objects that are copied and pasted become embedded.

This section covers how to embed an object and also how to create an embedded object. The convenience of creating an embedded object is that you can create it as you work in your main application. This gives you access to the application's tools.
