Chapter 5. Adding shape and style > Creating a Paragraph Style

Creating a Paragraph Style

It's helpful to create a paragraph style if you know you're going to be using the same text formatting over and over in the same document. This section will go through how to create a style and then how to modify a style.

To create a paragraph style:

1.
Apply font and paragraph formatting to a paragraph, and then leave the paragraph selected.

2.
In the Style list box in the Formatting toolbar, click the current style name.

3.
Type the new style name in place of the old name and press Enter (Figure 5.17).

Figure 5.17. Format the paragraph the way you want it, then select the text.

Your selected text is now set to the newly named style. The new style appears in the Style list (Figure 5.18).

Figure 5.18. Select the style that you want to modify.

When you want to apply the new style, select the text, and then in the Style list choose the new style name that you created.
