Changing the Page Size and Shape

Word's default page size and shape is 8½ by 11 portrait (vertical orientation). You can keep this page size or change it to something else. The choices you make for paper size and orientation are for the current document only. New documents revert to the default settings.

To change the page size and shape:

1.
Select File > Page Setup.

The Page Setup dialog box appears (Figure 5.3).

In the Page Setup dialog box, choose one of the standard paper sizes from the pull-down Paper menu (Figure 5.4).

Select Custom from the Page Attributes pull-down menu, and in the dialog box enter measurements in the Width and Heighttext boxes for a custom page size.

Confirm that the Orientation setting you want for the page is selected: vertical (usually referred to as portrait) or horizontal (landscape).
