Entering Values & Formulas

To enter a value or formula into a cell, begin by making the cell active. As you type or click to enter information, the information appears in both the cell and in the formula bar just above the window's title bar. You complete the entry by pressing or or clicking the Enter button on the formula bar.

While you are entering information into a cell, the formula bar is active. You can tell that it's active because the Name Box on the left end of the formula bar turns into a Functions list and two additional buttons appear between it and the cell contents area (Figure 27).
