Series & AutoFill

A series is a sequence of cells that forms a logical progression. Excel's AutoFill feature can generate a series of numbers, months, days, dates, and quarters.

To create a series with the fill handle

1.
Enter the first item of the series in a cell (Figure 36). Be sure to complete the entry by pressing or or clicking the Enter button on the formula bar.

Position your mouse pointer on the fill handle and drag. All the cells that will be part of the series are surrounded by a gray border and a yellow box indicates the value that will be in the last cell in the range (Figure 37).

3.
Release the mouse button to complete the series (Figure 38).
