Chapter 8. Creating Charts > Formatting Chart Elements

Formatting Chart Elements

You can use the Format dialog box to apply a variety of formatting to chart elements:

  • Font enables you to change the appearance of an element's font characters.

  • Number enables you to change the number formatting of values.

  • Alignment enables you to change the alignment and orientation of text.

  • Patterns enables you to change an element's color and pattern. It also enables you to set axis tick mark styles.

  • Placement enables you to set the position for a chart legend.

  • Scale enables you to change the values that appear on an axis.

  • Shape enables you to change the shape of data points.

  • Data Labels enables you to set data labels for a single data series or data point. I discuss these options earlier in this chapter.

  • Series Order enables you to change the order in which data series appear.

  • Options enables you to set data series spacing options.
